Reseed or Sod

Are you considering replacing your lawn this year? If you are, then the question becomes should you reseed your lawn or replace with sod. We take a look at the pros and cons of each.

The decision to sod or seed really depends on what you’re looking for. Are you looking to replace your entire lawn? Do you want immediate results? What’s your budget?

Sod is an excellent option if you’re looking for immediate results and you have a large area to replace. The nice thing about sod is that it typically doesn’t involve a lot of dust or mud the same way that seed does.

Best Buy In Town does offer sod, which can be cut to order, picked up at our location or delivered to your driveway. The two varieties  of sod we offer are 3 Way Rye Sod Blend, which is a great choice if your yard gets full sun exposure. The other variety is RTF Sod, which is really designed for the Pacific NW climate and does well in shady areas.

Seed will work if you have the patience to wait for your lawn to grow in and you have a small area to fill. If you’re patching up a small area, consider seed.

We do offer three types of seed: 3 Way Rye Blend Grass Seed, Rye Fescue Blend Grass Seed and RTF Grass Seed. RTF Grass Seed is the same seed that’s used at the prestigious Reserve Golf Course in Aloha, OR.

No matter what option you go with, we strongly recommend proper soil preparation. You’re going to want to make sure that you create a strong foundation to protect your investment. Our Landscaper’s Choice Soil Blend™ or our Plant Mix Soil are excellent options that will do just that.

If you’re not sure which options are right for your project, give us a call today and we’ll guide you through the process to make sure you’re making the right decision.
